For some people, the idea of working from home on the Internet is very appealing. Some folks have the idea that Internet marketers work in their pajamas all day long while sipping cups of coffee and listening to their favorite TV programs in the background. Some people may work from home in this kind of environment, but the vast majority of successful Internet marketers don't approach their business this way.

N.B. Staying organized both in your home life and work life can sometimes be a challenge. If you work from home or just have a small home office, it’s very important to make sure your work space is properly maintained and you can find everything easily. Too much clutter can make life much more difficult, and important tasks and papers can get lost in the shuffle. With proper organization, you can easily find the things you are looking for as well as feel like your personal life and work space are neat and clean. Even your computer should be properly organized, so items in various folders and on your desktop are quickly and easily accessed. Kindle Kash

Keeping Your Desk Neat
Your desk is where you do most of your professional work and a lot of thinking, so it’s important that it stay neat and clean. Using pen holders and post it note holders can keep loose items in one stationary place. Paper clips are often a problem, so use a small cup or other plastic container to keep binder clips, paper clips, and rubber bands. Many computer desks now have organizer drawers that have different compartments designed to hold small objects. You can also purchase small desk organizers to put inside your desk drawer if the furniture you have does not have one. Your personalized affiliate page is here.

Paper can often become a huge problem when you have a desk. That’s why it is extremely important to have some kind of system in place for papers so they don’t get mixed up. You should use desk organizers that stack so you have several different categorized places to put your papers. Incoming and outgoing mail should be separated. Current projects should have their own stack, while completed projects should be filed away. A filing cabinet is an excellent way to keep all of your files and important papers organized while still being neatly put away. Each week, go through the items on your desk and determine what papers can be thrown away or recycled, and put them in a shred or recycle box. If you let items pile up too quickly, important things can be abandoned, while unimportant things just add to the clutter. Make it a point to weekly clean your desk is a smart way to keep them organized.
Most of us have too many pens and pencils floating around. Think about it: do you really need 25 pens hanging around your desk? Throw away some of the old pens you don’t use, and just keep one or two good ones handy. Or, put away the remaining pens and only bring them out to use when one runs out of ink. Use your computer-based calendar or PDA to keep track of appointments instead of using a traditional desk calendar. This keeps everything organized and you don't have to have the extra paper hanging on the wall or sitting on your desk.

Personally, the few times that I've bothered to use out-sourced work, I end up putting in time cleaning it up to make it a quality piece of work. But I'm also picky and do my research before-hand to find out what the target audience already reads and would find enjoyable (Amazon is great that way).  Your personalized affiliate page is here.

It absolutely floors me, all the people who want to "create" Kindle/Nook e-books for a quick buck because they're booming right now but do not really have the aptitude for it.
And if you are going to get into e-book authorship purely from a business perspective, i.e., to produce a stream of income, one of your main objectives should be to output quality work if you really want to be in it for long-term passive income.
Nothing wrong with getting quality work done inexpensively, of course, it just hasn't been my experience that you can do both. You get what you pay for, and unfortunately, if you're really careless, you can pay out the wahoo even for poor-quality work.
I am a died-in-the-wool bookworm, and I enjoy writing. There are a lot of bookworms out there who would not particularly enjoy writing books.
So what is the likelihood that people who do not even particularly enjoy reading are going to know/appreciate quality writing? Especially enough to output quality e-book after quality e-book? Your personalized affiliate page is here.

There are some people, especially in the internet marketing industry, who have the business acumen to recognize and effectively promote quality work. BUT the key here is QUALITY.
Put crap out there if you dare, but it will come back to you in spades, especially if you mess around with a big company like Amazon.
I mean, think about it, Amazon is not going to let crap products ruin their reputation, nor should they. After all, they are a business, first and foremost.

Whether you are trying to get rid of an unsightly beer belly or want to look good in a swimsuit, the battle of the bulge can be a tricky one to win. The good news is that it's entirely possible to drop the pounds in a relatively short amount of time. How to lose weight comes down to one thing: burning more calories than you take in. Therefore, you either have to burn them, or decrease your intake. Here is one way to help you do the latter: Cut out soft drinks. First we'll cover soda, then we'll look at some other options.
You may think that drinking just one soda per day doesn't make that much of a difference. If you're active, and have your weight under control, then having the occasional soda is fine. But let's take a look at how that one soda can add up and what the impact on your weight will be when you go with a calorie-free alternative.

TOP TIP! Drink seven glasses of water per day.:-) The real inherent value comes from drinking more water.
http://www.yumdropsaffiliates.com/reps/Paul70
And the best of luck with all your efforts!
http://allsolutionsnetwork.com/cgi-bin/d2.cgi/PT18676/signupa.htm
Let's use some simple math to see what a positive difference this one small change can make when trying to lose weight. The first thing to know is that every 3,500 calories you get rid equals one pound. Next, a typical 12 ounce can of soda contains 150 calories. Okay, here's how it works out...
365 days in a year X 150 calories per 12 oz. = 54,750 total calories.
54,750 calories divided by 3,500 calories = 15.6 pounds!
Talk about a small change that can make add up to significant weight loss. And if you happen to drink soda in larger bottles, it could make a difference of 30 pounds or more. But be careful that you don't replace those calories with other calories. In other words you have to cut those calories out completely to get the full benefit.
The best way to quench your thirst when trying to lose weight is water. Keep a large bottle within arm's reach throughout the day, making it easy to take a sip when needed.
A Simple Way To Lose Weight And Keep It Off.
Funny how those few extra pounds seem to creep onto our bodies without notice. Then, one day, it's almost as though they have all been added at once. Perhaps it a glance in the mirror, or worse, a comment from a friend you haven' t seen in a while. Whatever it is, you are ready to lose weight. You want to look and feel better. At the same time, there's so much conflicting information about the best way to lose weight. What's a person to do? What follows may not be at the top of everybody's list for ways to lose weight quickly, but it works. At the very least it should be added to your bag of tricks for dropping those extra pounds. Some of the tips may sound a little silly, but you can't argue with results. So, what is this method? Portion control. And it can actually be a lot fun! For starters, when you focus on your portions, there's no need to carry along a bulky calories counter guide when you go out to eat. I used to hate trying to be "casual" when using those, because I just knew all of the other diners were watching me; thinking to themselves how fat I was. The most basic way of controlling your portions is...get ready...this is good...putting less on your plate. See? Easy. Not so fast! If it was that easy we would all be at our ideal weight. Yes, by all means, make an effort to put less on your plate. Here are a few more tricks to keep portions limited so you can lose extra weight. Don't worry about cleaning your plate. In fact, make it a habit to always leave a few bites on your plate. Speaking of your plate, using smaller dishes will give the illusion that there is more food on them. You can even eat on a saucer instead of a large dinner plate. Granted, you may have to fill it a second time, but all in all, it's an easy way to limit the amount of food you're eating. A big problem for a lot of people is that they eat so fast that they are technically full long before they feel full. Slow down the speed with which you normally eat. Doing so will give your stomach more time to signal the brain that it's full. The beauty of doing it this way is that you can eat the same foods you enjoy

TOP TIP! Drink seven glasses of water per day.:-) The real inherent value comes from drinking more water.
http://www.yumdropsaffiliates.com/reps/Paul70

So, what are the options? Most people think juice is a good replacement for soda. Not if you're counting calories it isn't. For example, while soda may have 150 calories per 12 ounces, grape juice has closer to 250. Some juices have a higher water content, so you'll have to check the label to be sure. However, if it's a choice between soda and fruit juice, go with the juice. At least the juice contains some vital nutrients while soda is nothing but empty calories.
TOP TIP! Drink seven glasses of water per day.:-) The real inherent value comes from drinking more water.
http://www.yumdropsaffiliates.com/reps/Paul70

Another thing you may not be aware of is that the sugar in soft drinks can make you thirsty. Putting you into an endless loop of drinking calorie-laden beverages to slake the thirst that the same beverages are causing.

TOP TIP! Drink seven glasses of water per day.:-) The real inherent value comes from drinking more water.

And the best of luck with all your efforts!

Regards,
Paul.

Is Barcelona's Lionel Messi the greatest-ever footballer?

MESSI IN NUMBERS

Wednesday's game against Bayer Leverkusen was the first time Messi scored five goals in a game in his career. It is also the first time a player scored five goals in a Champions League game. He also has one quadruple (v Arsenal), one hat-trick (v Viktoria Plzen) and nine braces in the competition.

Pro-Real Madrid Spanish newspaper Marca hails Messi's "hand of God"
With 49 goals in 64 games, Messi is the fourth top scorer in the history of the Champions League (since 1992-93), behind Raul (71), Ruud van Nistelrooy (56) & Thierry Henry (50).
Messi has scored 12 goals this season in the Champions League, which equals the best total in a Champions League campaign (since 1992-93). The others to reach that tally were Van Nistelrooy (2002-03) & Messi himself (2010-11).
This season, Messi has scored twice as many goals as any other player in the Champions League, ahead of Bayern Munich's Mario Gomez with six.
Since his goal in the 2009 final, Messi has scored 33 goals in 30 Champions League starts. It had been a year since he last scored at the Nou Camp in the competition (3-1 v Arsenal, 8 March 2011).
Messi had seven shots against Leverkusen, six of them on target.
Messi scored his 49th Champions League goal at the age of 24 years, eight months & 13 days old. When reaching the same target, Raul was aged 27 years, four months and 27 days - while Van Nistelrooy and Henry were aged 30 and 31 respectively.

3 Soccer Skills You Need To Master
Although it may seem to a beginning player that soccer requires a wide and diverse range of abilities, all you really need for a superior game is three basic soccer skills. However, mastering these skills requires intense and regular soccer training, both alone and with a team. Here are the three primary skills required by soccer and easy ways to perfect them in your own backyard.

1. Ball control
This means being able to take and keep control of the ball in a variety of situations, including while running and while under pressure from an opponent. One of the best ways to master ball control is to work against a wall. Kicking the ball against the wall and responding to its rebounding will allow beginning and intermediate players to get used to the way the ball responds to their foot movements. More advanced players can preselect different techniques, for example blocking the ball only with the inside of their foot, to master using techniques from a variety of angles.

2. One on one plays
Whether you are an offensive or defensive player, your interactions with the opposing team will be the key to your success on the soccer field. For defensive players, the most important one on one moves are blocking the other team’s offensive plays and taking possession of the ball. For offensive players, this means being able to get the ball past opponents, usually either by faking or by finding weakness in their techniques.

Although one on one plays may seem difficult to master on a solo basis, they really boil down to dribbling skills, which are easy to practice alone. You can practice dribbling the ball in a straight line or set up a more complicated course with cones or other obstacles. You can practice fakes by making the ball appear to be going in one direction before quickly moving in another.

3. Handling the ball
One skill that all successful soccer players have in common is the ability to accurately and forcefully kick the ball. This means knowing the three main kicking techniques, which are the push pass, the curve, and the instep drive. Another key part of handling the ball is knowing how to head the ball. Again, practice makes perfect. The best way to practice ball handling skills is to use a large number of balls and work on one technique at a time. Having to chase after a ball every time you kick it can keep you from perfecting your technique, so have an arsenal of soccer balls on hand for this exercise.

Once you have mastered these three main skills, the rest is just details. The key to learning the fundamentals of soccer is regular practice, both as a team and on your own. Practicing your game at home will allow your team to focus on team building and working as a coordinated unit at practice. With no special equipment and no coaching required, there is nothing standing between you and the soccer success you deserve.
My Team is 81 Strong...so far.

Common Soccer Positions
Are you a little perplexed by different soccer positions and the jargon you hear out on the field? Do you spend most of the game wondering exactly what every player is supposed to be doing? Here is a guide to the basic and more advanced positions of a soccer game as well as some of the more common nicknames for them. Because the best way to lose a soccer game is allowing the other team to score, defensive positions are very important to the game.

These are the basic defensive positions:

Defender - Also called a ‘back’, this defensive player works his magic in the defensive third of the soccer field, preventing the opposing team from making a goal.

Fullback - Plays the back most part of the defensive third, protecting the goal keeper.

Sweeper - A defensive player whose domain is directly in front of the goal, keeping the other team’s offensive players away from the goal. This position is not always used, but it can make a key difference in the quality of play.

Goal Keeper/Goalie/Keeper - Perhaps the best known position, this is the player who is directly in front of the goal to prevent the other team from scoring. It’s easy to identify the goalie, not just because of their position, but because they are the only player you will see using their hands and arms.

7 Soccer Goalie Tips
If you are playing as a soccer goalie, then you should read these tips, print them and keep them. But just reading these tips isn't enough. You would also need to practice them and make them a part of your daily routine, if you thinking of really been a great goalie. The main aim of the goalkeeper is to save the goal and they should be ready for it at all times. Adapt the tips in the matches that you play to become a great goalkeeper.

1. Keep yourself focused on the ball at all times
Don't fall in the trap of just looking at the ball when it's in the 18-yard box. Keep yourself focused on the ball at all times, even if it's far away from you. Many goalies have realized to their horror the consequences of not paying attention to the ball when its far way.

2. You should be ready to leave the 18-yard box
The primary mission of the goalkeeper is to save the shoots from reaching the goal. Also at some point in the game, you will need to leave the 18-yard box. However, don't do it too often else, the opponent can easily score while you are away. Be prepared to leave the goal and run in order to save the ball. Don't hold back at this time, instead run with confidence and determination.

3. Jumping to reach the crosses
Before you jump in the air to save the ball, ensure that you can actually reach the ball. When you should actually jump and go for crosses and when you shouldn't is very difficult to say. In fact this is something that you will actually learn on the field as you gain more experience. If you lose the ball in the air, then the opposing team has an advantage over you.

4. Learn from your mistakes
Understand that making mistakes is a part of the game. Unless you make mistakes, you won't go any far. Have confidence in yourself and then you can take out the opposition. At times, you would concede a goal. At these times, analyze what went wrong and then try not to repeat the mistake again.

5. Surprise your opponents
Don't make the first move; instead let your opponent do it first. In this way you would be able to take them by surprise. As a soccer goalie you should be able to judge the body language of the players. This is very important when the offensive players are taking a shoot. You must be able to judge when, how and where the strikers are planning to shoot.

6. Standing close to the goal line is necessary
It's important that you stand close to the goal line (about one yard). Standing too far away from the goal line can give immense opportunities to the opposing team. Lastly, you don't want to be caught unawares.

7. Don't be afraid of getting hurt
A goalkeeper can't be afraid of getting hurt. You need to use you whole body to stop your opponents from scoring. In a tight situation, (especially during the corner kicks) you must do everything you can in order to save the goal. Injuries happen in spite of all the training and the gear that the goalkeepers wear, but then it's a part and parcel of the game.

Defense is certainly important, but scoring goals is just as important as preventing the opponents from scoring them. On the other two-thirds of the field, you’ll find two basic types of soccer players:

Forward - As their title suggests, this player’s domain is the forward third of the field. The forwards have the important job of taking shots and making goals. The ‘striker’ is usually the key forward, who is the best at scoring.

Midfielder/Halfback - The midfielder is the multi-tasker of the game of soccer. From the middle third of the field, they move the ball between the forward and back thirds and can play offensively or defensively as needed.

But wait, you may be thinking. These aren’t all the terms I hear on the field. What about the ‘maestro’, or the ‘wingers’? There are other, more specialized roles that are sometimes assigned to players with special strengths and talents. Here are the most common advanced soccer positions you’ll hear about on the field.

Central Defender - This player, usually the best defender on the team, guards directly in front of their team’s goal.

Stopper - This position’s key duty is to guard the opposing team’s striker and stop them from making goals.

Defensive Midfielder - Also called a midfield anchor, this is a midfielder who plays near the defensive third of the field and, despite being a midfielder, plays primarily defense.

Central Midfielder - This midfielder is also called the Midfield General or the Midfield Maestro. They are the chief organizers of the midfielders and are responsible for keeping the ball on the offensive third of the field, where the forwards can work their magic.

Attacking Midfielder - This midfielder spends most of their time on the offensive end of the midfield, supporting the forwards.

Wingers - These are the speedy players who work the outsides of the field. Because they are responsible for getting the ball to the forwards, they are usually expert dribblers and make accurate passes.

Central Forward - This player is usually the best scorer, and thus works the middle section of the forward third. This position is sometimes used interchangeably with ‘Striker’. A related position is that of ‘Finisher’, which is the player who is almost guaranteed to score when given the opportunity.

Summary
Whether you are watching professional soccer or a preschool game, almost all positions will fall into one of the above categories. Each of these positions requires a specific set of skills and speed, and each is equally important to the game. This is what makes soccer a global favorite in sports; regardless of a player’s strengths and weaknesses, there is sure to be a position that is best for them.

1. Hello from Shirley

Hi

Hi This week has been a busy one in spite of us having been on holiday…but that is life…there are always things to be done that fill our days. We just have to stop every once in a while and reflect on how we are spending our time and make sure that the people and the things that are most important to us are not being neglected.

Next week, being the Easter week-end I will not be publishing an ezine. Putting this together usually takes me about 3 hours per week and I need a break! However, this week is the week where I give you all the readiness activities from the past 3 weeks, so there are plenty to choose from and repeat during these next 2 weeks.

If you are not receiving this email in html format or you find white gaps where there should be images, then use this link for a much more colorful and easier-to-read version!

2. Updates at Shirley's Preschool Activities

This week I added a free printable bookmark to my site – it doesn’t sound like much, but it still required uploading a whole new page. If your kids are in school, it would make a great gift for their teacher and if you are a teacher, it would make a great gift for parents. When you read the inspirational educational poem on it you will see why.

In this section of my ezine I keep sharing with you the wonderful opportunity that I have discovered which has allowed me to build this website, which is in fact a new online business and will eventually become a source of additi*nal inc*me for me.

I am excited to share what I am doing as I believe it will enable more and more moms to stay at home and nurture their little ones and it will also empower those that have already made the decision to be stay-at-home-moms.

Last week I wrote that it is not a question of whether a woman should work, but where she works!

This is also an opportunity for you to share your knowledge about your experience, skills, hobbies, sports or other interests, instead of burying your talents in the hum-drum of everyday life.

For me the challenge and the stimulation that creating and building my site and this ezine is reward in itself. However, now that I am starting to see dollars being clocked up to my credit each day for clicks on the Google Ads on my site, the months of work it took to get started will soon bring a financial reward too.

If you already own a website, you should consider subscribing to Google’s Adsense program too.

You can learn more here:

And if you have never considered starting your own online business, there is no time like now to get going. Experts say that the Net is still a baby and that it is predicted to grow hugely in the near future. Catch that wave NOW!

I'll leave you with those thoughts and the usual link to Work-at-Home-Moms!

4. Tips

Vinegar

Did you know that vinegar has about 101 household uses. You can use it diluted in water to clean floors, baths, the scale around taps, windows, inside the fridge and more...and it is eco-friendly too.

6. Readiness Activities

This week, instead of posting new activities I am going to repeat all the activities from the past 3 weeks. You need not repeat them all with your children. Here is my suggestion:

This week make sure that you repeat the 2 activities or skills that your child struggled with the most these past 3 weeks and also repeat the 2 activities that she excelled at.

The idea is to build her self-esteem by letting her repeat what she is good at, but also help her to improve the areas in which she is weak.

Don’t just drill children in the areas in which they are weak, or else they never experience positive achievements or develop their strong points. A child needs to know not just that ‘I am not so good at …(fill in the blank) but also that I AM good at …( fill in the blank), to help her develop a healthy, balanced self-esteem!

None of us should be expected to be good at everything, but if your child is pretty good all round, then just have fun repeating whichever activities you choose. Remember to adapt them for older or younger children. Most of these skills are best suited for the 4-5 age group.

Copy and paste these activities into a new document, print and paste them where you will see them daily.

Visual perception

Play a matching game using construction toys or building blocks. You and your child should each start with identical pieces. You then add another piece and your child must copy you with her piece. Continue adding pieces and then alternate and let your child be the leader in the game. Take turns for as long as your child can concentrate.

Auditory perception

1. Make up rhyming riddles for your child to complete, like these:

I can think of something that rhymes with make When it’s a birthday we bake a …… (cake)

I can think of something that rhymes with sky When you can’t reach up to something it is too ……..( (high)

I can think of something that rhymes with boy A thing a child plays with is called a ……..( (toy)

I can think of something that rhymes with fox The thing we buy cereal in is called a ……. (box)

Perhaps your child might like to ask you some riddles too!

2. Tell or read your child a short story. Afterwards, ask her to tell you what happened. If she does not tell you everything, prompt her by asking questions about what happened before or after certain events. Also ask other relevant questions about the characters or events of the story.

Initially your child may only tell you the parts of the story that were significant to her, like the climax or the ending. However, in time she will learn to narrate back to you with increasing accuracy.

Mathematical skills

1. Let your child play with two plastic tumblers or jugs in the bath. Fill them with different amounts of water and talk about concepts like, full, fuller, empty, heavy, heavier, light, lighter, little and much heavier etc.

2. Ask your child to count one, two, three, four or five objects and hand them to you. Repeat this activity often as you go about your daily activities.

3. Play a board game that requires using dice, like ludo or snakes and ladders. You can use one, two or three dice, depending on your child’s ability. If you don’t own any children’s board games, then create your own board game on a piece of card. Draw blocks in the form of a race track or create whatever theme would delight your child!

Gross motor skills

1 Play this game with your child: Tell her to lie on her back on the floor and pull her legs up to her chest and hold them with her arms, so that she is huddled in a ball.

Tell her she is an egg and you are an egg-eating monster. When you come near her, she must straighten out her legs and stretch her arms out above her head and in so-doing turn herself into a stick. When you have passed by she must turn back into an egg, until you come near again! Make scary sound effects and use your imagination to make it fun!

2. Ask your child to touch and name the body parts that she uses

a. to smell (nose)
b. to feel (skin)
c. to taste (tongue)
d. to hear (ears)
e. to see (eyes)

If your child enjoys this game, continue naming body parts, even smaller parts like elbows, wrists, neck, ankles, palms, soles etc.

Fine motor skills

1. Create opportunities for your child to draw and express herself through pictures. Ask her to draw a picture for a grandparent of friend or a card for a special occasion.

You could also draw messages for your child such as reminders to brush her hair, brush her teeth, pick up her toys, wash hands before meals etc. so that she discovers that messages can be communicated on paper.

2. Let your child build any puzzles that you have that are appropriate for her age.

3. Allow your child to play with play dough or modeling clay. She should be able to roll it flat with a rolling pin and use cookie cutters. Also encourage her to shape it into long snake-like shapes as well as to roll it into small balls.

Playdough recipe

Playdough ingredients

3 cups flour
4 tablespoons salt
1 cup cold water
2 tablespoons cooking oil
1 teaspoon food colouring or powder paint

Method

Mix together all the ingredients and knead into a firm dough.

Store in an airtight container in the firdge when not in use, so that the dough can last for a few weeks.

Language and thinking

1. Since the seasons are changing, talk to your child about how trees change from season to season. Ask her questions about her knowledge of trees at different times of the year. A lovely story to re-inforce this activity is The Little House by Viginia Lee Burton.

The story is about urbanisation and how a house in the countryside becomes surrounded by development and technology before finally being 'rescued', but the theme of the changing seasons and the apple trees can't be missed.

Another heart-warming story that is told through the seasons of the year is A New Coat for Anna by Harriet Ziefert.

2. Begin a habit of reading good literature aloud to your child regularly and let her narrate back to you afterwards. As avid fans of Charlotte Mason, I believe that children who practice the skill of narration, from living books, are not only able to repeat facts, but they learn to process and assimilate information and absorb it into their memories, making it a part of their unique knowledge of the world.

But one who tries this method on himself will find that in the act of narrating every power of his mind comes into play.” (Charlotte Mason Original Homeschooling Series, Volume 1, Home Education.)

A comprehensive yet easy to read book about Charlotte Mason is A Charlotte Mason Companion (link to Amazon.com)

3. Ask your child questions using the words who, what, where, why and how. Ask questions which will require her to think up her own answer which will neither be wrong or right, but test her general insight: Why do we need to eat food? How do you make a bowl of cereal? Why do people drive cars? Where do fish live?

Faith building

1. Teach your child some easy kids’ praise songs or listen to a kids praise CD or cassette together and learn some new ones!

We have enjoyed some Bible memory verse CD’s which are part of our Sonlight curriculum, where Bible verses are set to music and sung by children in a way that aids memorisation - Sing the Word! From A-Z andSing the Word: A New Commandment.

We have also enjoyed some of The Donut Man music and Salty the Singing Songbook amongst others.

You can search on Amazon.com or Kalahari.net.

Amazon offers you the option of listening to snippets of the CD before you buy. Click on these banners to begin searching.

2. Remind your child that when we pray, we are talking to the King of kings and Lord of lords, but also to a dear Friend who loves us very much. Be ready to answer questions about where He is and why we can’t see Him.

1.Hello from Shirley

Hi

It's the end of the month...and here in South Africa it is the beginning of the April school holidays - ten days until the new term begins. Even though we homeschool, we take a break from formal studies so that our kids can also be 'on holiday' with their school-going friends and mom can too!

For me this is time to catch up on book-keeping, mending and all sorts of odd jobs that need doing...and squeezing in as many hours working on my website as I can! The challenge and creative thinking it demands is addictive!

If you are not receiving this email in html format or you find white gaps where there should be images, then use this link for a much more colorful and easier-to-read version!

I am not a feminist - and I don't want to cross swords with anyone who is! (Smile)

As a Christian I hold a very conservative view about the roles of men and women. Don't get me wrong, I don't think either gender is superior, I believe God made us equal, but gave us different roles to play, especially in a marriage and a family.

I also believe where possible, that a mom should try to be at home keeping her household in order as much as possible, but she can also earn some income, if possible.

Proverbs 31: 16-18 gives us an example:

16 She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.

17 She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.

18 She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night.

It is not a question of whether a woman should work, but where she works!!

Those of us that are Christians are also commanded to "go and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19) and as "missionaries" at home, the internet makes that a possibility.

I'll leave you with those thoughts and the usual link to Work-at-Home-Moms!

4. Tips

Follow your instincts!

This week a local homeschooling mommy of two preschoolers phoned me to order ABC Fun & 1-2-3 and she also asked advice about coping with her 6 month baby.

She got me thinking about how to cope with many of the challenges that caring for babies and toddlers brings.

In a nutshell, my advice is: 'Follow your instincts!' Never mind what your mother or mother-in-law or the baby magazines say. We live in an age of 'experts' and 'specialists' in every field, but YOU know your child.

I often ask myself - how would I do ...(fill in the blank)... if I lived in ancient times or in a primitive tribe? Then I do it like that! (Now you know why I homebirth and nurse my babies fore-e-e-ever!!)

Copy and paste these activities into a new document, print and paste them where you will see them daily.

A note on gender - As I said before, I am not a feminist, it is just easier to use only one pronoun instead of his/her ...and to me 'her' sounds more personal than the overused male pronoun!!)

Visual perception

Continue adding pieces and then alternate and let your child be the leader in the game. Take turns for as long as your child can concentrate.

HOW TO RAISE MONEY FOR STARTING A BUSINESS

The task of raising money for a business is not as difficult as
most people seem to think. This is especially true when you have
an idea that can make you and your backers rich. Actually,
there's more money available for new business ventures than there
are good business ideas.

A very important rule of the game to learn: Any time you want to
raise money, your first move should be to put together a proper
prospectus.
 HTML-Protector Software

 ... Full affiliate details:
     http://www.html-protector.com/encrypt/joined.aspx?afl=73291
This prospectus should include a resume of your background, your
education, training, experience and any other personal qualities
that might be counted as an asset to your potential success. It's
also a good idea to list the various loans you've had in the
past, what they were for, and your history in paying them off.

You'll have to explain in detail how the money you want is going
to be used. If it's for an existing business, you'll need a
profit and loss record for at least the preceding six months, and
a plan showing how this additional money will produce greater
profits. If it's a new business, you'll have to show your
proposed business plan, your marketing research and projected
costs, as well as anticipated income figures, with a summary for
each year, over at least a three year period.

It'll be advantageous to you to base your cost estimates high,
and your income projections on minimal returns. This will enable
you to "ride through" those extreme "ups and downs" inherent in
any beginning business. You should also describe what makes your
business unique---how it differs form your competition and the
opportunities for expansion or secondary products.

This prospectus will have to state precisely what you're offering
the investor in return for the use of his money. He'll want to
know the percentage of interest you're willing to pay, and
whether monthly, quarterly or on an annual basis. Are you
offering a certain percentage of the profits? A percentage of the
business? A seat on your board of directories?

An investor uses his money to make more money. He wants to make
as much as he can, regardless whether it's short term or long
term deal. In order to attract him, interest him, and persuade
him to "put up" the money you need, you'll not only have to offer
him an opportunity for big profits, but you'll have to spell it
out in detail, and further, back up your claims with proof from
your marketing research.

Venture investors are usually quite familiar with "high risk"
proposals, yet they all want to minimize that risk as much as
possible. Therefore, your prospectus should include a listing of
your business and personal assets with documentation---usually
copies of your tax returns for the past three years or more. Your
prospective investor may not know anything about you or your
business, but if he wants to know, he can pick up his telephone
and know everything there is to know within 24 hours. The point
here is, don't ever try to "con" a potential investor. Be honest
with him. Lay all the facts on the table for him. In most cases,
if you've got a good idea and you've done your homework properly,
and "interested investor" will understand your position and offer
more help than you dared to ask.

When you have your prospectus prepared, know how much money you
want, exactly how it will be used, and how you intend to repay
it, you're ready to start looking for investors.

As simple as it seems, one of the easiest ways of raising money
is by advertising in a newspaper or a national publication
featuring such ads. Your ad should state the amount of money you
want--always ask for more money than you have room for
negotiating. Your ad should also state the type of business
involved ( to separate the curious from the truly interested),
and the kind of return you're promising on the investment.

Take a page from the party plan merchandisers. Set up a party and
invite your friends over. Explain your business plan, the profit
potential, and how much you need. Give them each a copy of your
prospectus and ask that they pledge a thousand dollars as a
non-participating partner in your business. Check with the
current tax regulations. You may be allowed up to 25 partners in
Sub Chapter S enterprises, opening the door for anyone to gather
a group of friends around himself with something to offer them in
return for their assistance in capitalizing his business.

You can also issue and sell up to $300,000 worth of stock in your
company without going through the Federal Trade Commission.
You'll need the help of an attorney to do this, however, and of
course a good tax accountant as well wouldn't hurt.

It's always a good idea to have an attorney and an accountant
help you make up your business prospectus. As you explain your
plan to them, and ask for their advice, casually ask them if
they'd mind letting you know of, or steer your way any potential
investors they might happen to meet. Do the same with your
banker. Give him a copy of your prospectus and ask him if he'd
look it over and offer any suggestions for improving it, and of
course, let you know of any potential investors. In either case,
it's always a good idea to let them know you're willing to pay a
"finder's fee" if you can be directed to the right investor.

Professional people such as doctors and dentists are known to
have a tendency to join occupational investment groups. The next
time you talk with your doctor or dentist, give him a prospectus
and explain your plan. He may want to invest on his own or
perhaps set up an appointment for you to talk with the manager of
his investment group. Either way, you win because when you're
looking for money, it's essential that you get the word out as
many potential investors as possible.

Don't overlook the possibilities of the Small Business Investment
Companies in your area. Look them up in your telephone book under
"Investment Services." These companies exist for the sole purpose
of lending money to businesses which they feel have a good chance
of making money. In many instances, they trade their help for a
small interest in your company.

Many states have Business Development Commissions whose goal is
to assist in the establishment and growth of new businesses. Not
only do they offer favorable taxes and business expertise, most
also offer money or facilities to help a new business get
started. Your Chamber of Commerce is the place to check for
further information of this idea.

Industrial banks are usually much more amenable to making
business loans than regular banks, so be sure to check out these
institutions in your area. insurance companies are prime sources
of long term business capital, but each company varies its
policies regarding the type of business it will consider. Check
your local agent for the name and address of the person to
contact. It's also quite possible to get the directories of
another company to invest in your business. Look for a company
that can benefit from your product or service. Also, be sure to
check at your public library for available foundation grants.
These can be the final answer to all your money needs if your
business is perceived to be related to the objectives and
activities of the foundation.

Finally, there's the Money broker or Finder. These are the people
who take your prospectus and circulate it with various known
lenders or investors. They always require an up-front or retainer
fee, and there's no way they can guarantee to get you the loan or
the money you want.

There are many very good money brokers, and there are some that
are not so good. They all take a percentage of the gross amount
that's finally procured for your needs. The important thing is to
check them out fully; find out about the successful loans or
investment plans they're arranged, and what kind of investor
contacts they have---all of this before you put up any front
money or pay any retainer fees.

There are many ways to raise money---from staging garage sales to
selling stocks. Don't make the mistake of thinking that the only
place you can find the money you need is through the bank or
finance company.

Have you ever been told "You Owe..."?
Unlike other companies that simply take the information you provide and then let the chips fall where they may.  Most companies, whether you have a small refund or even owe money (when you no you shouldn't), they are done.  No matter how the liabilities came out, you were told you simply "owed what you owed". (You may have experienced this).  That is not how we work.

First, we take the information that you put it into the system as any other tax professional would do…

Second, Only after that first pass, do we really we go to work.  We then analyze it to find the most beneficial structuring of said information to optimize the ultimate outcome of your return.

We don’t do anything that other preparers Can’t do…

Are you married? Your wife is your partner, dinners are business meals and deductible
Did you buy a computer this year?  It's deductible!
Do you pay rent?  Pay a mortgage?  Up to a third or even more is deductible!
This is but a small sample of how we go the extra mile looking for the extra item that either puts or keeps money in your pocket!
And if you have any type of side job, we can do much the same for you!

WHAT ARE OUR FEES?
Obviously, until we've seen your complete situation, we can't give an accurate answer.  If you have one job and no home, we can charge much less than if you had 3 jobs, 2 businesses and 4 houses.  What we can tell you without even looking at your situation is that the return that other companies routinely charge $500 and more to do, we will do for about $200.  We are committed to the doing the best work at the lowest cost.

Our fees are a minimum of $25 for a simple W-2 with no itemization to a Maximum of about $250 for a business with depreciation schedules.

Whether You Utilize Our Services, or File on Your Own...
Be certain to take advantage of the concepts we've provided.  They absolutely work and will lower your tax liability.
Here’s an example of how I used the aforementioned principles
for a friend of mine...

To keep me from getting bored, on weekends, I’m a professional musician.  Well, one evening at band practice a couple of years ago.  My bass player commented that he was mad because he had just gotten his tax returns back from H&R Block.   According to their calculations, he had a $63 dollar refund coming.

I was very familiar with his financial situation and told him that simply was not right.  I asked him how he had handled his band income.  He, like so many others, had not reported the income thinking that this would reduce his tax liability.

I suggested that he allow me to redo his taxes, add the income, but also take advantage of what I knew were deductions that he had available from this business.   I used the tax principles alluded to in this article, plus write-offs for equipment he had purchased.  When all the dust had cleared, his refund was almost $1,800 dollars.

Remember, when it comes to taxes, examine ALL angles  Don't cheat.  Don't lie.  But, don't needlessly give your money away!  When you have your taxes prepared, make certain that you use a professional who will ask you the questions that will allow you to minimize your liability.

Is it possible that you've been paying too much in taxes?  Are you missing some of the loop holes that could allow you to keep more of your money?  If you are concerned that you are or have given the government more than its fair share of your money-- Feel free to call for a free consultation.

Do you have a business and not even know it?  Are you a mechanic?  Cake decorator?  If not, you may want to consider starting a business.  Worst case scenario, it can minimize your tax liability; best case, you might get rich!  Looking for a potential business?  Click here for ideas to increase your income.

Start thinking about the idea of inviting investors to share in
your business as silent partners. Think about the idea of
obtaining financing for a primary business by arranging financing
for another business that will support the start-up,
establishment and developing of the primary business. Consider
the feasibility of merging with a company that's already
organized, and with facilities that are compatible or related to
your needs. Give some thought to the possibilities of getting the
people supplying your production equipment to co-sign the loan
you need for start-up capital.

Remember, there are thousands upon thousands of ways to obtain
business start-up capital. This is truly the age of creative
financing.

Disregard the stories you hear of "tight money," and start making
phone calls, talking to people, and making appointments to
discuss your plans with the people who have money invest. There's
more money now than there's ever been for a new business
investment. The problem is that most beginning "business
builders" don't know what to believe or which way to turn for
help. They tend to believe the stories of "tight money," and they
set aside their plans for a business of their own until a time
when start-up money might be easier to find.
